The Handheld Devices Programme will co-ordinate the procurement, design, development, testing and deployment of new handheld hardware solutions for all 11 England Ambulance Trusts.
ARP will procure a new handheld solution for the 11 English Ambulance Trusts and will commit to a minimum order quantity of 16,500 devices. We currently have planned an 18-month deployment period for the 11 English Ambulance Trusts, based on the deployment of the ARP vehicle hardware and National Mobilisation Application (NMA). Scotland and Wales are also able to access the handheld solution as service recipients.
The intent is to deploy the handheld devices utilising Airwave for critical voice services, with access to commercial Long-Term Evolution (LTE) data services. The transition onto the Emergency Services Network (ESN) will be enabled once ESN is service ready, as the device is specified to meet ESN requirements.
