The NHS Ambulance Radio Programme (ARP) are pleased to announce incredible progress since March 2024, with the go lives of three more Trusts to the new Control Room Solution (CRS). This is part of ARP’s national deployment of the new Frequentis LifeX application which will be utilised throughout all Ambulance Services in England, Wales and Scotland.

The new solution provides critical multimedia communications from the Emergency Control Rooms to the Operational Crew in the field. South Central (SCAS), South East Coast (SECAmb) and Yorkshire (YAS) Ambulance Services also went live on the new Airwave provision, Dispatch Communications Server (DCS) during the go live, marking a substantial milestone as part of the CRS rollout!

Paul Hemmett – ARP Implementation Manager (SCAS);

“It was a pleasure to work with the project team at SCAS during the planning and transition to the LifeX platform, and the first to introduce the DCS platform to the ambulance sector. The dedicated training and operational teams have ensured the system has been well received by the Control Centre staff using the system, with initial feedback being very positive.”

Martin Stebbing – ARP Implementation Manager (SECAmb);

“This is another great achievement and further continuation of the Control Room Solution Programme. My thanks go to South East Coast Ambulance Service and all those involved, be they ARP colleagues or our suppliers in achieving the migration from their legacy ICCS to LifeX. It was a great team effort by all those involved and also a great example of different organisations working collaboratively. There were some very challenging periods along the way and many long hours were spent in getting ready and in the detailed planning of the migration. The fact SECAmb went live, and their staff moved back ahead of schedule meant that time spent in the preparation paid off and yet another Trust was successfully migrated.”

Mohammed Khalil – ARP Implementation Manager (YAS);

“The YAS CRS migration was a testament for both YAS and ARP teams. The project delivery, close collaboration between the teams and the meticulous planning led to 17th July go live running smoothly on all fronts. A huge thanks goes to the Trust Team leaders and all the other Trust staff for their support and flexibility on the day. The positive feedback from the LifeX operators on the features and useability of the LifeX application was greatly welcome. Here’s to another successful CRS implementation by ARP!”

Craig Kelly – Frequentis UK Key Account Manager;

“We are delighted that South Central Ambulance Service, South East Coast Ambulance Service and Yorkshire Ambulance Service have become the latest users to successfully transition to the Frequentis LifeX multimedia communication solution. In collaboration with the Ambulance Radio Programme and Ambulance Trusts, the implementation also migrated Control Rooms from Command Control Interface (CCI) to Dispatch Communication Server (DCS), a modern digital connection to the Airwave network which will also support ESN transition. Designed to meet the highest demands of the emergency services, LifeX provides Control Room users with cutting-edge communication and location technology. This significantly enhances their lifesaving work through increased visibility and improved coordination for integrated response”.

ARP would like to thank all of our Suppliers including Frequentis & Airwave for their support during the rollout!
