The NHS Ambulance Radio Programme (ARP) are pleased to announce East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) & South Western Ambulance Service Trust (SWAST) have both gone live and transitioned to the new Control Room Solution (CRS) across August and September! This is part of ARP’s national deployment of the new Frequentis LifeX application which will be utilised throughout all Ambulance Services in England, Wales and Scotland.

The new solution provides critical multimedia communications from the Emergency Control Rooms to the Operational Crew in the field. Both Ambulance Trusts also went live on the new Airwave provision, Dispatch Communications Server during the go live.

Chris Shellard – ARP Implementation Manager (EMAS);

“The success and smooth transition to CRS at East Midlands Ambulance Service reflects the hard work put in by the project team, operational staff, and training team at EMAS. The close working between the ARP and EMAS project team proved invaluable throughout the project, and ensured the transition from legacy ICCS was uneventful. Staff were well trained and prepared for their new system, this was obvious on the day of migration when the staff adopted the new system with very little support required by subject matter experts. Feedback from staff using the system since go live has been extremely positive. Well done to EMAS for all of your hard work migrating to LifeX.”

Steve Bowyer – Chief Digital Officer (EMAS);

“Migrating to LifeX has been met with great feedback here at EMAS on both the implementation event and the LifeX product itself. It was a fabulous collaboration between the EMAS and ARP teams which was underpinned by months of planning and hard work all round; I’d just like to repeat my thanks to all involved for making the project such a success.  Well done!”

Paul Hemmett – ARP Implementation Manager (SWAST);

“I have had the pleasure of working alongside colleagues from the SWAST to transition to the Frequentis LifeX solution. The project, from start to finish, showed great teamwork, collaboration, and determination on an accelerated timeline, ensuring the migration was implemented safely and effectively, and on schedule. The feedback from the dispatch teams at SWAST has been extremely positive. This is another huge milestone completed in the Control Room Solution (CRS) release, leaving just two further English ambulance services to move across to the new platform.”

John Martin – Chief Executive (SWAST);

“The significant effort involved from the Ambulance Radio Programme was evident not only on 25th September but in the weeks and months leading to the go live and in the close and welcome attention since. The planning, preparation and execution of this important project was demonstrably of high-quality. Much of that comes from the teamwork and collaboration through the project from ARP, the Trust’s team and that of Frequentis and other suppliers. That one-team approach has paid dividends.”

Craig Rankin – Head of EOC Change (SWAST);

“Implementing Control Room Solutions has truly enhanced the way in which communicate with our frontline and EOC colleagues. It has enabled us to combine both radio and telephony traffic into a single platform allowing a more intuitive and efficient method of communications for dispatchers but also giving the Trust the flexibility to adapt and move forward as the product develops. It has been adopted into the Trust seamlessly and is well embedded into daily practice.”

Craig Kelly – Frequentis UK Key Account Manager;

“Frequentis are proud that EMAS and SWAST have become the latest UK Ambulance Trusts to transition to Frequentis LifeX multimedia communication solution. The successful implementations were completed collaboratively with ARP and the Trusts, ensuring smooth adoption of LifeX within the user community. LifeX is designed to meet the highest demands of mission-critical emergency use cases, providing the Ambulance control rooms with cutting-edge communication and location technology, enhancing their lifesaving work through increased visibility and improved coordination for a more integrated response.”

ARP would like to thank all of our Suppliers including Frequentis & Airwave for their support during the rollout!
